πŸ₯± No energy to exercise? It's a real thing!

Hi Reader,

This is pretty embarrassing to admit...

But, a short while ago, my husband asked me if I wanted to go for a walk and I said no.

I don't remember the excuse I used, but the truth was:

  • I was worried I wouldn't make it as far as we usually go.
  • I wasn't sure I could keep up.
  • I felt weak, which isn't normal for me.

Sadly, the first thing that I told myself was that I was so lazy and out of shape.

Shortly after this day, I tested my hormones, through the functional labs that I use.

And, drum roll please, it was not surprising that my testosterone was almost flat lined, pretty much like my desire to exercise.

For reference, the functional lab range for a woman (yes, even though we think of men when we think about testosterone, it is actually a very important hormone for us women to maintain as well) is 26-33, and mine was at a 5.

With low testosterone we commonly find:

  • Difficulty recovering from a workout
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Low libido
  • Incontinence
  • Sleep disruptions
  • Memory lapses

If you are thinking, "OMG that's me", please do not assume that it is low testosterone. It very well may be, but the last thing I want you to do is to go online and start searching what to do for low testosterone.

If you don't have low testosterone and you start doing the things that will raise it, you could end up with a whole host of other symptoms.

These symptoms are very common and can stem from a number of different reasons, and it's one reason I love the testing, because it tells us exactly what the levels are.

If you are truly having a hard time getting motivated to exercise, please do not just assume that you are lazy or give yourself a hard time.

There may be a very good reason!

If you are interested in finding out where your hormone levels are, let's chat and I can tell you more about the process :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Reader, Happy Spring! It's still cold here in the Northeast, but the daffodils are blooming so spring MUST be coming! Do you ever have pesky symptoms that bother you? That's really a trick question because everyone does as one time or another. Well, I've always been one to want to dig in to find out why, and that's looking for what they call "the root cause". Most quick fixes (ie. OTC medications) provide a bandaid, but it's really important to know WHY whatever it is that's happening, is...

Hi Reader, We are more than halfway through January and I still feel like I'm slowly easing into the year. Anyone else feeling that too? The days are cold and gloomy here in the Northeast, and all I want to think about is being warm and cozy! What is the ultimate act of self-love? It's self-care. Why Self-Care? Because You're Worth It! ✨ In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to forget the most important person in the roomβ€”you! We go day in and day out taking care of our family, our...

Hi Reader, Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday! There is nothing I love more than the feeling of a new year and starting off with a clean slate. New ideas, new goals, new inspiration. With this, also comes the marketing of resolutions - "do this", "don't do that", there are so many words of advice coming at you all at once. It can be hard to ignore them because, if you are like me, I want to make the best choice for myself. This is the height of shiny object syndrome time....
