🀩 There are SO many shiny objects out right now! But, beware, they may or may not work for YOU!

Hi Reader,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday!

There is nothing I love more than the feeling of a new year and starting off with a clean slate. New ideas, new goals, new inspiration.

With this, also comes the marketing of resolutions - "do this", "don't do that", there are so many words of advice coming at you all at once.

It can be hard to ignore them because, if you are like me, I want to make the best choice for myself.

This is the height of shiny object syndrome time.

There is no other time than right now, when this is presented to us the most.

What is shiny object syndrome?

According to Wikipedia:

"Shiny object syndrome is the situation where people focus undue attention on an idea that is new and trendy, yet drop this as soon as something new takes its place."

Emails, TV ads and social media feeds are full of ways that you can:

  • Lose 20 pounds in the first month
  • Drop 5 dress sizes with 1 tablespoon of this each day
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Eliminate insulin resistance
  • Lower your A1C

You may even feel your heart beat faster just reading this list with excitment that you want this for yourself too!

Marketing companies know exactly how to get to us with what we so desperately want.

We want to finally lose the weight this year and fit into our clothes, we want to stop hearing from the doctor that we need xyz medications, we want to feel better so that we can live our lives to the fullest.

Who wouldn't?!

The major problem with all of these offerings is that they are mass-produced and they are not customized for your body.

So, as you browse your feed, your emails and watch TV ads, and you consider what your next step may be with your own health, ask yourself these questions:

  • Will this process work for me long-term?
  • What happens when I stop taking this?
  • Will I learn real life health tips that I can use now and moving forward?
  • Who is going to make sure I do this correctly and follow up with me?

When we have tried everything and are so desperate for that one thing that might finally be the answer, we are willing to try anything. I know that desperation and I'm sure you do too.

This year, consider digging a little bit deeper and finally getting some answers about YOUR own body.

In 2023, I worked with many clients who came to me with at least a handful of main complaints. The most common were: brain fog, bloating, low libido, IBS, stubborn weight, low energy and constipation/diarrhea.

After running their tests in the privacy of their home, each client got a personalized protocol of action steps to work on based on the test results and their particular imbalances.

One client, after suffering from IBS for over 20 years, texted me:

"When I stick to "the plan", my IBS is gone".

Her "plan" included eliminating her food sensitivites, eating more protein because we found out her body burns through carbs too quickly to give her enough energy, incorporating some healthy lifestyle habits and 3 supplements to rebalance her gut bacteria and restore her gut lining.

Wouldn't it be great to know exactly what your body needs and to stop guessing?

Here's to a happy and healthy 2024!

Christa 😊

Hi Reader, Happy Spring! It's still cold here in the Northeast, but the daffodils are blooming so spring MUST be coming! Do you ever have pesky symptoms that bother you? That's really a trick question because everyone does as one time or another. Well, I've always been one to want to dig in to find out why, and that's looking for what they call "the root cause". Most quick fixes (ie. OTC medications) provide a bandaid, but it's really important to know WHY whatever it is that's happening, is...

Hi Reader, We are more than halfway through January and I still feel like I'm slowly easing into the year. Anyone else feeling that too? The days are cold and gloomy here in the Northeast, and all I want to think about is being warm and cozy! What is the ultimate act of self-love? It's self-care. Why Self-Care? Because You're Worth It! ✨ In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to forget the most important person in the roomβ€”you! We go day in and day out taking care of our family, our...

Hi Reader, I love planning for a new year. 🌟 It's like a clean slate to make fresh goals and put to rest what didn't work in the previous year. Health is always on my list. Yep, I'm a health practitioner, but I'm constantly working on the next level of health for my own body. Sure, I've refined a lot, but there's always more to focus on. (In 2023 I did a parasite cleanse - it sounds SO gross, but was totally worth it, I'd rather have those buggers out than in lol, tested my thyroid, had my...
