πŸ¦ƒ 🍷 How to Bounce Back After Thanksgiving (or Anytime You Overindulge)

Published 5 months agoΒ β€’Β 1 min read

Hi Reader,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day surrounded by loved ones and delicious food.

It's often said that "calories don't count on holidays". That's all well and good, until you wake up the day after thinking, "why did I let myself do that?"!

Such is life...there will always be a party, vacation, event or gathering, and the last thing I want you to do is beat yourself up for enjoying yourself.

Today, I want to share a few ways that I hit the reset button after overindulging.

When you feel like you've gotten off track, or simply need to "rein it in", here are some tips to help:

  1. Stay Hydrated: After a day of indulging in rich foods and a glass or two of wine, it's really important to rehydrate. Make water your go-to beverage for a day or two. Being well hydrated will help to flush out the toxins, support your digestion, and can even help reduce bloating. This is also a great way to give your liver a break.
  2. Choose Nutrient-Rich Meals: Give your body the nourishment it craves by focusing on nutrient-dense meals. Load up on fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. These foods provide essential vitamins and minerals and help to reduce inflammation.
  3. Get Moving: Burn off some calories and get your circulation going! Whether it's a brisk walk, a workout, or a yoga session, exercise can help boost your mood, increase energy levels, and kickstart your metabolism.
  4. Mindful Eating: The day after Thanksgiving, or any day of indulgence, is an excellent time to practice mindful eating. Pay attention to hunger and fullness cues, and savor each bite. This can help you reconnect with your body's natural signals and prevent overeating in the days that follow. If you wake up and you aren't hungry, wait a bit until you are. If you want to eat an early dinner and make it light, go right ahead, listen to what your body wants.
  5. Plan Balanced Meals: As you ease back into your regular eating routine, aim for balanced meals that include a mix of carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats. I typically eat gluten free until I'm feeling back to my old self again.

Bonus tip: Use a smaller plate and see if smaller portions satisfy your hunger. The plate will still look full, but won't have as much food as a full regular sized plate.

Remember, the key is not to feel guilty about indulging on Thanksgiving, but to use the day after as an opportunity to prioritize your health and well-being.

Small, sustainable changes can make a big difference in how you feel both physically and mentally.

Wishing you a happy holiday weekend!

The days are cold and gloomy here in the Northeast, and all I want to think about is being warm and cozy! What is the ultimate act of self-love? It's self-care. Why Self-Care? Because You're Worth It! ✨ In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to forget the most important person in the roomβ€”you! We go day in and day out taking care of our family, our...

Hi Reader, Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday! There is nothing I love more than the feeling of a new year and starting off with a clean slate. New ideas, new goals, new inspiration. With this, also comes the marketing of resolutions - "do this", "don't do that", there are so many words of advice coming at you all at once. It can be hard to ignore them because, if you are like me, I want to make the best choice for myself. This is the height of shiny object syndrome time....
