⁉️ Why is my stomach so messed up?

Published almost 2 years agoΒ β€’Β 1 min read

Hi Reader,

I've been doing a bunch of free health strategy calls lately, and it is so interesting to see the patterns start to emerge.

My first question is usually "If I could wave a magic wand and change one thing about your health, what would it be?".

The answers are usually around weight loss, more energy and as they get to the end, as if it's a last minute thought...

"Oh yeah...and my stomach is a mess!"

Though this feels like it's last on the list and an almost afterthought, it usually is the one thing that is the MOST disruptive to their lives each day.

Some people are literally running to bathroom every time they eat.

Some people are having stomach pains.

Some people are constipated.

Some people are experiencing acid relux and general indigestion.

Most people eat 3 times a day, and if your body is not digesting your food, or there are gut issues going on, it's no wonder your body is screaming for help.

With proper lab testing we can usually get a pretty good idea about what's going on, and where to focus to start healing your gut.

Here are some common reasons you may be feeling discomfort when you eat:

  1. Gluten and dairy - yep, I'm throwing those right out there as #1, these seem to be the least digestible and the most problematic on the gut.
  2. An imbalance in your gut bacteria - for instance having too little of the good bacteria, which helps to crowd out the bad.
  3. Having little critters - I know, it sounds so gross, and they can be picked up anywhere, but if you have a parasite, it must be addressed!
  4. Eating foods you are sensitive to - these foods cause inflammation in your body and contribute to gut issues.
  5. Leaky gut - though it again sounds gross, it is fairly common. This is when your gut lining gets damaged (ie from all of the above) and has openings where toxins flow in and out (instead of always staying out) and when they get in (through the gut lining), they are able to get into your bloodstream and can trigger an inflammatory response. This creates a whole host of gut, immune and other issues, including gas, bloating, and discomfort.

So, as you can see, there are lots of variables when it comes to gut health.

If your stomach is yelling for help, please message me and we can set up a time to talk. There are so many ways to approach healing what's going on in your body, and with functional lab testing, we can pinpoint exactly what YOUR body needs.

Have a wonderful weekend! Stay cool, it's going to be a hot one here in the Northeast!

Hi Reader, Happy Spring! It's still cold here in the Northeast, but the daffodils are blooming so spring MUST be coming! Do you ever have pesky symptoms that bother you? That's really a trick question because everyone does as one time or another. Well, I've always been one to want to dig in to find out why, and that's looking for what they call "the root cause". Most quick fixes (ie. OTC medications) provide a bandaid, but it's really important to know WHY whatever it is that's happening, is...

Hi Reader, We are more than halfway through January and I still feel like I'm slowly easing into the year. Anyone else feeling that too? The days are cold and gloomy here in the Northeast, and all I want to think about is being warm and cozy! What is the ultimate act of self-love? It's self-care. Why Self-Care? Because You're Worth It! ✨ In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to forget the most important person in the roomβ€”you! We go day in and day out taking care of our family, our...

Hi Reader, Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday! There is nothing I love more than the feeling of a new year and starting off with a clean slate. New ideas, new goals, new inspiration. With this, also comes the marketing of resolutions - "do this", "don't do that", there are so many words of advice coming at you all at once. It can be hard to ignore them because, if you are like me, I want to make the best choice for myself. This is the height of shiny object syndrome time....
